Interpretation
Last Kiss is like hitting rewind. She replays the ordinary details of the breakup day — the smell in the car, the thing you said — over and over, knowing it was the last time yet unable to fast-forward.
I think this is heartbreak at its dumbest and truest: we chew on the most mundane goodbyes because we didn't know they were final. Taylor writes that slow, late-arriving grief very quietly.
