Interpretation
The magic of this one is that it became a fully-formed love song while still technically unfinished. She sang it on tour for years before the album existed, so by the time Speak Now locked it in, it already carried the echo of every crowd singing along. Haven't you felt that jolt — not yet happening, but you can already picture the whole future with someone? That's the spark.
It captures the most unreasonable second of a crush: your brain hasn't agreed, but your body has already raised its hand. Taylor writes that dizzy "fell before I thought" feeling with real honesty — no pretending to be cool, no apology. So even after every polish, it's still that sixteen-year-old's backstage confession about a heartbeat outrunning her head.
