The Last Time (feat. Gary Lightbody)
Curator's Note
Interpretation
The Last Time is a duet of two talking past each other — she asks 'what happens after this,' Gary Lightbody answers in a tired voice 'same as always.' The relationship died long ago; neither hangs up first.
It aches. It writes 'break up, get back, repeat' as a loop: not love left, just too lazy to end it. Gary's voice is the person who always apologizes and never changes. You'll get: the hardest part isn't starting, it's finally saying 'this is the last time.'
