Interpretation

Mine is about a person scared of love, slowly learning to uncurl her fingers. In 2010 she was betting: maybe this time it won't fall apart. Singing it in 2023, there's a new steadiness — not pride, more like relief. She didn't ruin it after all.

I love that 're-owning' feeling: the same song, now sung by whoever actually wrote it. When she hits 'you made a permanent mark,' it sounds less like a line to a boy and more like a thank-you to the version of herself brave enough to believe.
